Alcaraz vs de Minaur Prediction

The final at London’s Queen’s Club is set. Top seed Carlos Alcaraz, in his tournament debut, will face Australia’s Alex de Minaur in the title match on Sunday. It should be a fascinating battle and we expect entertaining tennis. These two players can turn it up and if what we witnessed in their first career meeting at last year’s Barcelona Open is anything to go by, we are in for a belter. Let’s look at Alcaraz’s path to the final. He’s not the most experienced player on grass, but he masks that limitation with his extraordinary movement and a bludgeoning forehand. He has dropped one set en route to the final, in his opening match against Arthur Rinderknech. Victories against Lehecka and Dimitrov followed, before overcoming his toughest test against Sebastian Korda. And like I said in the semifinal preview, it was crucial he gets under Korda’s skin and gets the ball back, and he did so to absolute perfection, breaking the American three times.

De Minaur, for his part, reached his second final of the season – both coming at 500 level (won Acapulco in March). Like Alcaraz, he has also dropped one set, which was in his quarterfinal win over Adrian Mannarino. De Minaur was equally impressive in his semifinal win over second-seed Holger Rune, committing just nine unforced errors in the match. Both players are great movers and cover the court extremely well. De Minaur loves these conditions, he’s the more experienced player on grass and has mastered the finer details on this surface that could probably give him a decent chance of competing and taking the game to Alcaraz. But the Spaniard is a special talent. He can mimic pretty much what De Minaur can do on this surface and his court awareness will deny the Aussie. We reckon the top seed will capture his first title on grass.
