Sabalenka vs Jabeur Prediction

Second seed Aryna Sabalenka defeated Eastbourne champion Madison Keys 6-2, 6-4 to strengthen her assault on the Wimbledon title. Although the match wasn’t quite as physically brutal as we expected, it was more a case where Sabalenka just didn’t let it happen, suffocating Keys with her consistent serving and clean strokes. The Belorussian edged the overall numbers. She won 75% first-serve points, which was significantly higher than Keys’ 57%.

Sabalenka’s second serve was also better, enabling her to save three of four break points. She finished the match with 17 winners to 14 unforced errors and will contest her second semifinal at Wimbledon.

Standing in her way will be last year’s finalist Ons Jabeur. The Tunisian got revenge for her last defeat at the All England Club, beating defending champion Elena Rybakina in a remake of last year’s final. Jabeur lost a helter-skelter of a first set in a tiebreak but was soon to be the better player, breaking Rybakina’s big serve at least three times in the next two sets to win 6-7, 6-3, 6-1, finishing the match with more aces than the Kazakh and more winners.

Jabeur is a player capable of wreaking havoc on the WTA’s biggest hitters. While she doesn’t have the power to match Sabalenka, her trademark slice and variety to change the pace of her opponent’s ground strokes make her a bona fide challenger. Ultimately though, it will still come down to how Sabalenka is able to utilize ferocious power off the ground. Gone are the days when Sabalenka was an unforced error machine or paralyzed by nerves. This should be a great spectacle, two players of contrasting game styles, and we’re backing the No. 2 seed to advance into her second Grand Slam final.
