Jabeur vs Vondrousova Prediction
Ons Jabeur will contest her third Grand Slam final on Saturday after knocking out second seed Aryna Sabalenka 6-7, 6-4, 6-3. Jabeur was two games away from defeat, trailing 6-7, 2-4, but she’s shown extraordinary resilience at this year’s Championships, rallying to win her third three-setter in the space of five days.
By beating Kvitova, Rybakina and Sabalenka, she became the first woman to defeat three top-10 opponents at Wimbledon since Serena Williams in 2012.
Marketa Vondrousova, meanwhile, produced one of the all-time great performances at Wimbledon, as she cruised past a red-hot Elina Svitolina to reach her second Wimbledon final. Vondrousova’s 6-3, 6-3 win took an hour of 16 minutes of complete dominance. She’s the first unseeded Wimbledon finalist in the Open Era.
Jabeur and Vondrousova are two unique shotmakers in their own right and tactically, each will try to outsmart the other. It should be a very intriguing final. Vondrousova might have the mental edge here, having gotten the better of Jabeur in their two meetings this season, but there’s been a three-year gap since her last Major final, and will be more nervous than the Tunisian. We’ll lean towards Jabeur as she is the more experienced player and will handle the occasion with poise. She’s also managed to keep her unforced error count below 20 in each match, which is particularly significant as we’ve seen her go all out on the attack and has been very consistent with her ball striking. Back Jabeur to hoist the Venus Rosewater Dish at the second attempt.
