It has been a tough start to 2023 for Monfils who hadn’t played for over six months. He’s played six tournaments across all levels, including three on the ATP Tour. But he has recorded a 1-6 record, with his solitary win coming via retirement at the Ostrava Challenger last month. Cachin has had no such problems, especially on clay where he has racked up 14 wins this season and finished runner-up at the Madrid Challenger in April. I really can’t see Monfils having any joy in this match.
