Aleksandar Vukic has dropped one set in his run to the semis at the Busan Challenger and which came in his quarterfinal comeback victory against Christopher Eubanks. In truth, Vukic was slightly fortunate to pull through that one, with Eubanks squandering three match points on his return, the first one probably makeable at 6-5 in the second set which the American netted. But it’s been clutch tennis by the Aussie who has played at least one tiebreak set in each match in a very testing path. Brandon Holt, on the other hand, has yet to drop a set as he reached his first semifinal at the Challenger level. Holt’s breakthrough run this week has been very impressive in matches he was instilled as the outright favorite and done so with aplomb. Considering that he only won two matches at this level this year prior to his trip to Busan, this run has certainly come out of the blue. But with that said, he’ll look to be the steadier performer against Vukic, just like their meeting in Melbourne. It’s worth taking the set handicap +1.5 on the American in what I reckon will be a breakthrough week for him.
