Medvedev vs Tsitsipas Head-to-Head

Daniil Medvedev leads Stefanos Tsitsipas 7-4 in their head to head. It’s one of the most infamous rivalries on the present day ATP Tour, with two very different playstyles backed up by some past drama. Their clay head to head is tied at 1-1, but with Tsitsipas the superior player on the surface. Medvedev has his number for the most part, but Tsitsipas winning their two most recent meetings spices things up.

Medvedev vs Tsitsipas Prediction

Daniil Medvedev dispatched Yannick Hanfmann 6-2, 6-2 in his most dominant display of the tournament so far, with Stefanos Tsitsipas getting an impressive win over Borna Coric, closing it out 3 and 4. It’s a really fascinating matchup, seeing as to their rivalry, but also because of the surface. Medvedev is no doubt playing the best clay court tennis of his career, but Tsitsipas has improved his tennis in the last week and should come into this one as the slight favorite. The result of the match will likely lie on how well Tsitsipas covers his backhand, not allowing Medvedev to pummel it with his cross-court backhand, as well as how each player serves. Tsitsipas has been serving great, but Medvedev is the bigger server of the two and will be able to rack off more free points. I expect Tsitsipas to go to the drop shot and serve and volley quite a bit, but on clay the serve and volley tactic may be slightly less effective, so Tsitsipas will have to win a lot of long rallies from the baseline if he wants to come out on top in this match. It could really go either way, but I think Medvedev is playing some excellent tennis and will get the better of the Greek for a spot in the final of the 2023 Rome Masters.
