The big-serving German is playing the best tennis of his life at the ripe old age of 33. His scintillating performances at the Madrid Open made him the talk of the town, becoming the first lucky loser to reach a Masters 1000 final. And he was only upstaged by the eventual champion Carlos Alcaraz in an engrossing final Struff played a decent part. Struff has not allowed his head to drop, electing to play in Bordeaux where he has straight-setted Kyrian Jacquet and Corentin Moutet. He’ll face a big test in the semis against Tomas Martin Etcheverry who is putting together a fine season on the ATP Tour.
