TennisSection previews the 2021 Queen’s Open as Andy Murray meets Benoit Paire in the Round of 32 on Tuesday June 15th 2021.
Will Benoit Paire be rejuvenated in his motivation for tennis as a faster paced season comes around in the grass court season? Will Andy Murray get some big wins under his belt as he looks to get his game up to speed for his long and awaited return to Wimbledon on his long road of recovery? Both players can win this match if hey are playing their best tennis, but only one will make their way to the Round of 16. Who will it be?
Benoit Paire did not have a strong clay court season, or entire season at all, only winning 2 matches all year and losing 14. Benoit has just lost the love for the game, and he has focused on his holidays and cashing in pay checks after tanking in tournaments. Benoit will perhaps find some love now that the clay season is over and he can his some amazing shots in grass court conditions. However, here at the 2021 Queen’s Open he has been put up against a player who has such a history of success in these conditions in Andy Murray. Can he get the big win under his belt to get his 3rd win of the year?
Andy Murray has not played a singles match on the ATP Tour since March where he made his way to the Round of 16 of the Rotterdam Open, but he has been putting a lot of hard work behind closed doors to ensure he can be competitive for the rest of the season. Andy Murray has such a good game on grass, and he will want to get some big wins under his belt in terms of confidence before the end of the month when Wimbledon begins. Andy Murray will know he has to be at his best however as he meets Benoit Paire who can put on some superb performances out of nowhere sometimes.
Andy Murray and Benoit Paire have met 2 times before, with Andy Murray leading the head to head 2-0. Although Benoit Paire is ranked 83 spots higher than Murray nowadays and he has had 1 more win that Murray in 2021, Benoit just does not give me any confidence anymore. Andy on the other hand, although still struggling, shows me a player who is putting in a lot of hard work to get back to his best. I see Murray getting a needed win for his confidence and momentum under his belt here at the 2021 Queen’s Open as he prepares himself for Wimbledon.
