After scoring his first top-10 win since 2019 by beating Stefanos Tsitsipas, Karen Khachanov backed up that result by taking down Argentina’s Francisco Cerundolo 6-3, 6-2 to advance into the Miami Masters semifinals for the first time in his career. Despite going down an early break, Khachanov found his rhythm and his pure power off the ground crushed Cerundolo. He tallied 18 winners and completed the win in 75 minutes. He will be looking for a second top-10 win in as many days when he takes in Daniil Medvedev.

Daniil Medvedev leads Karen Khachanov 3-1 in their head-to-head. Medvedev has won their last two bouts in straight sets including a quarterfinal clash in Adelaide in January. The high-flying Medvedev will be the favorite here owing to his wonderful defense and ability to lure his opponents into going for the lines. Khachanov is slightly more adept at painting the lines, and we might see him hit more winners than unforced errors. It will be Medvedev’s biggest test before the final, but the courts are playing to his liking this week. I feel he’ll comfortably topple his compatriot here.
