The 25-year-old Swede is hands down the ITF Tour’s MVP this season, winning a record 10 titles, with his recent triumph coming at M25 Brasov a week ago where he did not drop a set to the title. He’ll get a taste of Tour-level action on home soil against the more accomplished Challenger player in Luca Van Assche.

The Frenchman is the junior in this matchup at only 19 years of age, but sits comfortably in the world’s top 100. Van Assche has collected two Challenger titles this year, one on indoor hard and the other on red clay. He has beaten the likes of Stan Wawrinka, Adrian Mannarino, and Marco Cecchinato on the dirt this year and even took a set from Novak Djokovic in Banja Luka. He is a player oozing potential but still is occasionally erratic.

While the French teenager is the overwhelming favorite to win here, we like the odds on Madaras to earn at least a set. The wild card is playing at home and has been on a tear on clay this season on the lower levels. He’s also beaten Van Assche before, and there is a fair chance he squeaks a set.
