Rublev hasn’t been particularly impressive himself but still managed to reach the second week not playing his best tennis. Rublev will most definitely have a say in this match, and I expect him to fight hard, but I feel that Bublik is playing at a slightly higher level at the moment which outweighs Rublev’s ranking and experience at this level.

The big question mark here is whether Bublik is dependable should this match go into a fifth set (he has lost his last three five-setters in slams). How will the Kazakh’s body respond? Still, Bublik has never been more confident in a tournament and looks well worth the risk here. I expect Bublik to pull off the upset and book himself a quarterfinals spot at the 2023 Wimbledon Championships, but it’ll certainly be a tussle.
