Miami Open 2023: Qinwen Zheng vs Anastasia Potapova Prediction, Odds & Pick

TennisSection previews the 2023 Miami Open fourth-round match featuring Qinwen Zheng vs Anastasia Potapova on Monday, March 27, 2023.

Qinwen Zheng vs Anastasia Potapova Match Preview

Two of the brightest prospects in women’s tennis who are just one year apart are on a collision course at the 2023 Miami Open. Will it be Qinwen Zheng or Anastasia Potapova who prevails?

Qinwen Zheng has recovered from her recent injury issues, having spent one month on the sidelines. But she played a solid tournament at the 2023 Miami Open overcoming Irina-Camelia Begu and power-hitting Liudmila Samsonova. Zheng’s resilience is an incredible asset in her game. She’s been required to fight back from a set down in both matches to get to this stage. She will face 21-year-old rising star Anastasia Potapova.

Anastasia Potapova is making a name for herself as a potential nominee for the WTA Most Improved Player of 2023. She’s made a blistering start to the season, winning her second career title in Linz and now winning big matches. Potapova earned her first top-10 scalp of the season by beating American prodigy Coco Gauff in three sets. She trailed 7-6, 5-3, but the Russian clinched 10 of the next 12 games to turn the match around. Before this year, Potapova had not won a main draw match at the Miami Open. Now she’s on the cusp of making the quarterfinals when she takes so 20-year-old Qinwen Zheng.

Qinwen Zheng vs Anastasia Potapova Prediction and Pick

Qinwen Zheng leads Anastasia Potapova 2-0 in their head-to-head. These two have played a couple of nail-biters already, with their US Open second-round clash last year living up to the hype. Both these players are still learning their trade and are far from a finished article. We can expect plenty of winners here and an equal amount of unforced errors as they both like to step inside the court and take the role of aggressor. I’ll stick with pre-match favorite Zheng who I think is marginally better at overcoming lapses in concentration.
