TennisSection previews the 2023 Dubai Championships as Alexander Zverev takes on Jiri Lehecka in the Round of 32 on Monday, February 27, 2023.

Will Alexander Zverev get the win? Will Jiri Lehecka pull off the upset? This will be an interesting one, where we have the No. 1 German still finding his form coming up against the on fire youngster. Who will triumph and move through to the Round of 16 at the 2023 Dubai Championships?
Alexander Zverev hasn’t looked too bad considering the severity of his injury, but he certainly isn’t playing at the level we’re used to seeing from him. Jiri Lehecka is a brutal first round draw for him, especially considering he’s still seeded. Zverev won’t shy away from the challenge though, and he’ll give it everything he has for a spot in the Round of 16 at the 2023 Dubai Championships.

Jiri Lehecka had a solid week in Doha, taking out top seed Andrey Rublev before suffering a heartbreaking loss to Andy Murray. Despite who his opponent was, losing from 40-0 up while serving for the match will definitely get into your head, that said, Lehecka has a good head on his shoulders and will likely recover from that loss as his prospects look high for a good run this year at the 2023 Dubai Championships.

Alexander Zverev and Jiri Lehecka have met once before, with Jiri Lehecka leading the head to head 1-0. Lehecka took down Zverev this year in one of his first official matches back from injury, easily beating him 6-4 6-2. Zverev at his best is a force to be reckoned with, and although Lehecka will be a really tough opponent, I think Zverev will have raised his game just that little bit more since Doha and I do expect him to be able to get the win and book himself a spot in the last 16 of the 2023 Dubai Championships.
