TennisSection previews the 2023 Montpellier Open as Jannik Sinner takes on Lorenzo Sonego in the quarterfinals on Friday, February 10, 2023.

Will Jannik Sinner get the win? Will Lorenzo Sonego pull off the upset? This will be an interesting one, where we have an all Italian matchup between the two youngsters. Who will triumph and move through to the semifinals at the 2023 Montpellier Open?
Jannik Sinner finds himself in the quarterfinals without having played a match, benefiting from the withdrawal of Fucsovics. As he comes up against fellow Italian and friend Lorenzo Sonego, Sinner will be looking to get a feel for the centre court and to put on a dominant display against him. He looked good in Australia, so let’s see if he can translate that form into a solid run here at the 2023 Montpellier Open.

Lorenzo Sonego took down Filip Krajinovic 7-5 6-1 to set up a meeting with Jannik Sinner for the first time ever. If Sonego wants to win, he’s going to have to try and play out of his element, looking to play aggressively and not allow Sinner to dominate him in the rallies. However, especially on this court, Sinner absolutely outclasses Sonego and I can’t see any outcome except for a win for Sinner to propel him into the last four of the 2023 Montpellier Open.
Jannik Sinner and Lorenzo Sonego have never met before, with this being their first career meeting. The pair have never met before, and I’m not really liking the matchup for Sonego, to defeat Sinner, you need to be able to defend extremely well, and Sonego just doesn’t have that kind of defense, so his only option is to go all out, however, Sinner will take advantage of this and step into the court as he looks to move on to the semifinals at the 2023 Montpellier Open.
