TennisSection previews the 2022 Citi Open as Nick Kyrgios takes on Mikael Ymer in the semifinals on Saturday, August 6th, 2022.

Will Nick Kyrgios get the win? Will Mikael Ymer pull off the upset? This will be a fascinating one, where we have one of the hottest players on tour taking on a surprise semifinalist. Who will triumph and move on to the final at the 2022 Citi Open?
Nick Kyrgios faced his first challenge of the tournament, needing 3 sets to take down Frances Tiafoe. After dropping the first set in the tiebreaker, he saved 5 match points in the 2nd, taking the 2nd set tiebreaker 14-12. The 3rd set was rather straightforward and more of the classic Kyrgios we’ve seen this week, taking it 6-2. As he faces Mikael Ymer in the last 4, he’ll be feeling really confident as he looks ahead to the final at the 2022 Citi Open.

Mikael Ymer took down Sebastian Korda 7-5 in the 3rd, a very important win for him as he looks ahead to Nick Kyrgios in the semifinals. It’s gonna be an incredibly difficult match for him, as the Australian is in supreme form. Ymer can play very well at his best, but he doesn’t have the consistent weapons and defense to be able to deal with the arsenal of Kyrgios as the two clash for a place in the final at the 2022 Citi Open.
Nick Kyrgios and Mikael Ymer have never met before, with this being their first career meeting. Ymer will have to play lights out tennis, that’s obvious. The issue for him however mostly lies in the fact that Kyrgios’ serve is too good. He hit 35 aces against Tiafoe, and I only expect more of the same here. Ymer will have to hope for some luck if he wants to avoid the sheer barrage of aggression from Kyrgios as he looks to advance to the final of the 2022 Citi Open.
