Andy Murray took down Thiem and Shapovalov so far, two great wins, but he was really just solid, not exceptional, but consistent. Murray said it himself, “He’s the World No. 1, and I’ve got a metal hip.” Djokovic is an aggressive baseliner, and he demonstrated that perfectly against Monfils a couple of days ago, Murray will have to luck out if he even wants a shot here, and it’s as simple as that as he aims to fight his hardest at the 2022 Madrid Open.

Murray has most certainly been able to hold his own, even on the clay, taking out Djokovic on a couple of occasions, but in Madrid, on the quicker courts and with the weapons Djokovic possesses, Murray will somehow have to find a way to be aggressive if he wants any shot against the World No. 1 as they fight for a place in the quarterfinals of the 2022 Madrid Open.
