Stefanos Tsitsipas got a solid win over de Minaur, serving well and playing a good level of aggressive tennis. De Minaur did give him some free points though, we know that Carlos Alcaraz won’t be giving him an inch. Tsitsipas may be the clear favorite by rankings and tournament results, but he is absolutely not the guy you’d pick to win the match. Alcaraz is the guy to win this match, and it’s simply evident in their levels as of late. Alcaraz is a big hitter, playing the aggressive kind of tennis you need to match Tsitsipas as he aims to pull off yet another big win and move through to the quarterfinals at the Miami Open 2022.
Carlos Alcaraz has been playing great tennis, not losing a set thus far en route to the Round of 16 where he will face 3rd seed Stefanos Tsitsipas. He is the form favorite going into this one, only losing to Berrettini and Nadal this year, lifting the title in Rio and reaching the last 4 in Indian Wells. He’s on the path to reach the last 4 once again at the Sunshine double, with Tsitsipas looking a little meek. While we know what Tsitsipas can do on the big stage, he simply hasn’t consistently been looking great, obviously he has a chance to take this one, but the Spaniard looks to be in prime position to take this one as he aims to move through at the Miami Open 2022.
Stefanos Tsitsipas and Carlos Alcaraz have met once before, with Carlos Alcaraz leading the head to head 1-0. Their one meeting of course came in the classic 5 setter at the US Open, where Alcaraz pulled off the upset against the then World No. 3 Tsitsipas, taking him down 7-6 in the 5th. Alcaraz has improved since then, and you can’t really say the same for Tsitsipas, who aside from a great performance in Australia, has simply not looked that good since Roland Garros last year. Let’s see what Alcaraz can do as he aims to take down Tsitsipas for a second time and book a spot in the final eight at the Miami Open 2022.
