Taylor Fritz got a tight win against Tommy Paul, needing 7-6 and 6-4 to take down his fellow American. He now looks ahead to Miomir Kecmanovic of Serbia, a great player and one to watch out for this year, having made some great results this season. Fritz also struggled in his first round match, and while he still is extending his streak from Indian Wells, I don’t think he’s in prime position to take him down again, with Kecmanovic getting better and better and looking to pull the upset at the Miami Open 2022.
Miomir Kecmanovic has dismantled his opponents so far, and ones of very high quality, taking down FAA, a top 10 player, as well as Korda, a great player who’s been playing quite well as of late who has the potential to do some great things in this sport one day. Kecmanovic may have lost their Indian Wells encounter, but here, Fritz looks to be at a slightly lower level than his Indian Wells run while Kecmanovic is hitting through the ball so well, absolutely dismantling his opponents, I expect him to once again take down a top opponent and book his spot in the quarterfinals, but it won’t be easy at the Miami Open 2022.
Taylor Fritz and Miomir Kecmanovic have met twice before, with Taylor Fritz leading the head to head 2-0. Their first meeting is rather irrelevant, but their last one could use some discussing. Fritz took him down 6-1 in the 3rd, a rather dominant conclusion to a strange match. Fritz has the firepower, and we know he has the feel for how Kecmanovic plays, but I think he’s bound to lose at some point here, and Kecmanovic is the guy to take him down and book his spot in the quarterfinals at the Miami Open 2022.
