Sebastian Korda got a very good win over a very tough opponent, taking down Davidovich Fokina with two breadsticks. He now has a very good look at a place in the last 32 as he stares down Albert Ramos-Vinolas. Ramos-Vinolas, while a great player, is more of a clay courter as opposed to Davidovich Fokina who is a jack of all trades in terms of the surfaces. Korda has looked super good in the last couple of weeks, and I expect him to continue his tirade as he aims to move on at the 2022 Miami Open.
Albert Ramos-Vinolas is looking ahead to his first match of the tournament as the 32nd seed in the draw. While he may be the slightly higher ranked player, he is not the favorite coming into this one. Korda is in great form, and his game is really perfect for this kind of court. I expect Korda to be able to be too aggressive and too big and flat of a hitter for Ramos-Vinolas to really be able to dictate any points. It looks as if Korda will continue his top form and move on to the Round of 32 at the 2022 Miami Open.
Sebastian Korda and Albert Ramos-Vinolas have never met before, with this being their first career meeting. It’s not a great matchup for the Spaniard, as Korda hits the ball really big and flat and we’re on a faster hard court with a lower bounce as opposed to the heavy traditional clay court game of Ramos-Vinolas. I expect Korda to be all over this contest as he aims to make more waves on the ATP Tour at the 2022 Miami Open.
