A very exciting match is expected as these rising stars of the ATP Tour do battle at the 2021 Halle Open. Both Ugo Humbert and Sebastian Korda have been outstanding here this week and are seeking to reach their first ever grass court Semi-Final. Who will get the win and advance here in Halle?
Ugo Humbert is currently ranked #31 on the ATP Tour and is a very talented young lefty. He burst onto the scene with some outstanding performances last season, and while he has so far failed to replicate that in 2021, he has seemingly found form here on the grass at the 2021 Halle Open. After reaching the Quarter-Finals last week in Stuttgart, he replicated that feat by defeating Sam Querry in the First Round, and then stunning third seed Alexander Zverev in the Round of 16. The Frenchman played some fantastic attacking tennis, leaving the world number six with no chance. Humbert enters this match against Sebastian Korda as the slight favorite, but knows that he will have to be at his best here as the young American has been equally as impressive here in Halle.
Sebastian Korda is unseeded here at the 2021 Halle Open, and is ranked #52 in the ATP world rankings. The young American has been enjoying a breakout year so far this season, winning his first ATP title in Parma, and reaching the Semis in Miami, proving that he is capable of good tennis on all surfaces. Question marks were asked about his ability on grass, given that he was is making his debut on the surface here in Halle. However, he has been impressive, defeating veterans Roberto Bautista Agut and Kei Nishikori to reach the Quarter-Finals. His huge serve and big groundstrokes make him a very dangerous opponent on this surface, and while he enters this match as the underdog he is more than capable of getting the win over the Frenchman Ugo Humbert.
This will be the first meeting between the two players, and it is sure to be a very exciting one. Both men play a very attacking and flashy brand of tennis, and will be desperate to reach the Semi-Finals here at the 2021 Halle Open as they prepare for Wimbledon. I am predicting a very close match, likely going the distance with either man capable of getting the victory here. All things considered, I am going with Sebastian Korda to get the win and advance here. He is a bit of an unknown on this surface, but he has been outstanding so far and has just a bit more firepower than Ugo Humbert. It will be a battle, but the American will get the win and advance to the Semis here in Halle.
