Will Jan-Lennard Struff get some positive results under his belt before Roland Garros next week? This is going to be an interesting match as we do not know much about Flavio Cobolli. Who will make their way to the Quarter-finals of the 2021 Parma Open?
Flavio Cobolli caused an upset in the first round against a slightly more experienced player in Marcos Giron, beating the American by coming back from a set down 3-6/7-6/7-6. The match was so tight, and I think due to Marcos Giron not really loving playing on clay, Flavio Cobolli was able to use his love for the surface to win the match in a very tight fashion. Now, Flavio will want to back up that performance by beating a very experienced and tough player in Jan-Lennard Struff. However, the wildcard will have to raise his level drastically here.
Jan-Lennard Struff has been playing quite well on clay this year, winning a lot of matches and making the final of a tournament as well. Jan-Lennard is very experienced and he will want to have a good run at Roland Garros next week. However, to do so he will also need to get some positive results under his belt here at the 2021 Parma Open. Jan-Lennard Struff is good on clay, having pushed some of the best players to their limit, but in these smaller ATP 250 tournaments it is always hard to predict how experienced players will do with not much on the line. Will Struff prevent the upset by Flavio Cobolli from happening?
Jan-Lennard Struff and Flavio Cobolli have never met before, with this being their first meeting on the ATP Tour. They could not be more different these two players. Cobolli is small, and has only ever played 1 match on the ATP Tour which was this week. On the other hand, Struff has more than 12 years of experience on the ATP Tour and he has been playing some strong tennis this year. Unfortunately for the local Italian, I don’t expect him to get anything out of this match as he is not as versatile when it comes to playing big like Struff.
