TennisSection previews the 2023 Miami Masters quarterfinal match featuring Carlos Alcaraz vs Taylor Fritz on Wednesday, March 29, 2023.
Carlos Alcaraz vs Taylor Fritz Match Preview
Will Carlos Alcaraz get the win? Will Taylor Fritz pull off the upset? This will be an interesting one, where we have the top seed and most in-form player in the world taking on the No.1 American in some excellent form himself. Who will triumph and move through to the semifinals at the 2023 Miami Masters?
Carlos Alcaraz took down Tommy Paul in impressive fashion, adding yet another win to his growing win streak. If he wants to become the youngest player to ever win the sunshine double, as well as become the first ever to do so without dropping a set, he’ll need to endure some very tough opposition, the first of which will be Taylor Fritz in the quarterfinals. The key for Alcaraz will be to stay aggressive, as well as play the way he normally does in being able to get to a lot of balls and force Fritz to continue playing one extra ball, forcing errors but also using his power and aggression to keep Fritz on the backfoot. Let’s see if the Spaniard can return to the final four at the 2023 Miami Masters.
Taylor Fritz earned a very impressive win himself, taking out Holger Rune in straight sets, however, some of that can be attributed to Rune’s high unforced error count. Still, Fritz was untouchable on serve for the most part and wasn’t missing from the baseline. Those two things will be extremely important as he takes on Carlos Alcaraz. If he wants to win, he can’t give anything away with unforced errors and he needs to serve extremely well to make the sets as tight as possible. Let’s see if the American can grab the biggest win of his career for a place in the semifinals of the 2023 Miami Masters.
Carlos Alcaraz vs Taylor Fritz Prediction and Pick
Carlos Alcaraz and Taylor Fritz have never met before, with this being their first career meeting. To make it even more exciting, it’s a first-ever meeting between the two, and although I could see Alcaraz winning this decisively, I expect Fritz to give a really good fight. He’ll certainly have his chances especially if he serves lights out, but I think Alcaraz has a lot of upside and extraordinary defensive skills to master the American. Expect the World No. 1 to continue his excellent form and take advantage of this matchup for a spot in the semifinals at the 2023 Miami Masters.
