Sinner vs Schwartzman Prediction
Jannik Sinner got his Wimbledon campaign off to a flier on Monday. Sinner under the roof was virtually unstoppable as he romped past Next Gen star Juan Manuel Cerundolo 6-2, 6-2, 6-2 in just 90 minutes. Sinner recorded seven aces, zero double faults, and won 33 of 40 first-serve points. Such was his dominance that he did not drop a single service game and only faced two break points in the match.
Diego Schwartzman, meanwhile, upstaged Serbia’s Miomir Kecmanovic in perhaps one of the most shocking results on the men’s section on Day 1. The Argentine kept his record of having never lost a first-round match at Wimbledon since 2017 intact, with a routine 6-0, 6-3, 6-4. Schwartzman landed 71% firsts serves, which was slightly better than Kecmanovic’s 65%, and despite his height drawback, made up with his movement to win seven of 18 break points. However, Schwartzman hasn’t found the antidote to Sinner’s baseline aggression in their three ATP meetings. And considering how brutal Sinner was on clay in their two matches, Schwartzman pretty much has little chance of making any inroads on a fast surface such as grass. Expect another comfortable afternoon for the Italian star.
