Daria Kasatkina faces a potential banana skin in the second round when she takes on British wild card Jodie Burrage. Kasatkina, a finalist in Eastbourne in the last warmup tournament before Wimbledon, overcame a back injury to defeat Caroline Dolehide in the opening round, 6-1, 6-4. Kasatkina didn’t serve a single ace, but tallied six double faults. The back injury certainly affected her serve, although Dolehide couldn’t really hurt the Russian on the return, converting just one of eight break points.

Jodie Burrage, meanwhile, picked up his maiden main draw win at Wimbledon for the first time as she defeated American Caty McNally in straight sets. She hammered 18 winners and won 71% first-serve points in a dominant 6-1, 6-3 win.

This is an extremely interesting battle as Kasatkina cannot afford to treat Burrage lightly. With her recent grass-court momentum, which includes reaching a first career final in Nottingham, Burrage has the capability of punching above her weight. And if Kasatkina’s back issues resurface here, Burrage looks primed to make her pay. We reckon the home favorite represents decent value to at least take a set here.
