The pair were then involved in a verbal altercation at the end of the match, apparently settling their in-match misunderstandings. Munar, however, will be pleased to get through and will take on another big hitter in Tallon Griekspoor for a spot in the third round.

Tallon Griekspoor had a bye in the first round and will play his first match at the Madrid Open on Friday. He is set for his debut appearance at the event. Griekspoor is on a three-match losing streak, with his last win coming at the start of April when he defeated Elias Ymer in Marrakech.
