Borna Coric is staring at a potential fifth defeat in a row when he plays Laslo Djere at the Banja Luka Open. Will the Croatian star turn his season around?
Borna Coric is a measly 7-7 for the season and worryingly has lost four matches in a row. Five of his seven losses this year have come against players ranked significantly lower than him in the rankings. He’s not expected to enjoy a great deal of comfort in Banja Luka where he will open up against Laslo Djere who already has five wins on clay this year.
Laslo Djere won his first-round match at the Banja Luka Open 6-4, 6-2 against Roman Safiullin. He converted four of seven break points in the match and maintained a high serving percentage behind both his first and second serve. He improves to 5-4 record on clay this season ahead of his fourth career meeting against Borna Coric.

Laslo Djere leads Borna Coric 2-1 in their head-to-head, with all three matches coming on clay including two last season where they split wins. Djere and Coric have played three-set matches across all contests and this one will in all probability follow suit given just how appalling Coric’s form is in the past month. The Croat looks like a shadow of the player that streaked to win Cincinnati last year. I’d give Djere an edge here.
