Coming back from a set down, 2-5 down in the 3rd set, and 4-6 down in the 3rd set tiebreaker, Thiem’s fight was fully on display. As he comes up against Daniil Medvedev though, he’ll know himself that it’ll take a special rise in level from him if he wants a shot in this match. Thiem will have to serve at a very high percentage, and he needs to mix it up by coming to the net and playing dropshots, as with the state of his forehand, he won’t be doing all that much to the top seed from the line. The pair hasn’t played in 2 years, with Thiem undergoing unfortunate events with injury, but now he’s back and he’s playing some incredible tennis, and he still has plenty of room to grow, which is scary.
