TennisSection previews the 2023 Qatar Open as Felix Auger-Aliassime takes on Jason Kubler in the Round of 16 on Wednesday, February 22, 2023.

Will Felix Auger-Aliassime get the win? Will Jason Kubler pull off the upset? This will be an interesting one, where we have the Canadian No. 1 looking to kick off his campaign. Who will triumph and move through to the quarterfinals at the 2023 Qatar Open?
Felix Auger-Aliassime didn’t have the best start to 2023, with a loss in the 4th round of the Australian Open and a swift exit during his title defense in Rotterdam to Medvedev. However, Auger-Aliassime really made a big leap last year, and I expect him to only continue his trajectory upwards, and I absolutely expect him to take down Jason Kubler to book his spot in the quarterfinals of the 2023 Qatar Open.

Jason Kubler has quite the task ahead of him as he must take on Felix Auger-Aliassime, one of the best players in the world and someone who can absolutely blow you off the court. FAA is still a player who can fall to someone ranked much lower than himself such as Jason Kubler, but the Australian really doesn’t have the kind of experience needed to capitalize on a bad day by Auger-Aliassime and I expect no less than a win for FAA at the 2023 Qatar Open.

Felix Auger-Aliassime and Jason Kubler have met once before, with Jason Kubler leading the head to head 1-0. As aforementioned, FAA is susceptible to an upset like this, and while he did lose in a 3rd set tiebreaker in Newport last year, FAA wasn’t in his best patch of tennis and it’s hard to think the Canadian won’t come through here to book himself a spot in the last eight of the 2023 Qatar Open.
