TennisSection previews the 2023 Qatar Open as Dan Evans takes on Emil Ruusuvuori in the Round of 32 on Tuesday, February 21, 2023.
Will Dan Evans get the win? Will Emil Ruusuvuori pull off the upset? This will be an interesting one, where we have a diverse matchup for a spot in the next round. Who will triumph and move through to the Round of 16 at the 2023 Marseille Open?
Dan Evans has a tough battle awaiting him in the first round, and while I do think he’s gonna win despite a tough streak of luck lately, Ruusuvuori has a good game to break down what Evans does, and I expect him to struggle. Let’s see if the 6th seed can manage expectations and claim the win for a place in the Round of 16 here at the 2023 Qatar Open.
Emil Ruusuvuori absolutely has a puncher’s chance here, looking to hit some heavy backhands into that same wing of Evans, breaking down the slice and definitely looking to run around to the forehand and come in if possible. Still, Evans is a master of his craft, and I expect this to be a tough match for both players, but Ruusuvuori will have his say at the 2023 Qatar Open.
Dan Evans and Emil Ruusuvuori have never met before, with this being their first career meeting. This is their first-ever meeting, and as such it’s tough to truly get a read on who will benefit from this matchup. Ruusuvuori has a good game to play Evans, but Evans is simply a better player at this time and so I expect him to step it up with his variation and court craft when it counts to grab the win for a spot in the last 16 of the 2023 Qatar Open.
