Jannik Sinner played an excellent match against his good friend in Lorenzo Sonego, taking him out quite easily as he looks ahead to Arthur Fils. Despite the excellent wins Fils has picked up at this event, Sinner is the heavy favorite here and there’s no reason for that not to be the case as he’s looked great all season so far. Let’s see if the Italian can pick up yet another final as he looks to advance at the 2023 Montpellier Open.

Arthur Fils took down fellow countryman Halys in impressive fashion, becoming the youngest French ATP semifinalist since Richard Gasquet in 2004, the very man he defeated in the first round. If he wants a shot at Jannik Sinner, he has to leave it all out there. Otherwise, Sinner will pounce all over him and show him what the very best are like. Let’s see if the 18 year old can produce even more sparks here at the 2023 Montpellier Open.

Jannik Sinner and Arthur Fils have never met before, with this being their first career meeting. So far, Fils has largely benefited from his big hitting and especially his serving, unfortunately for him he’s now coming up against one of the best returners in the world and someone who in general does what he does, but better. Though I won’t rule out some drama, I expect Sinner to book himself a place in the final of the 2023 Montpellier Open.
