TennisSection previews the 2023 Lyon Open as Linda Noskova takes on Camila Osorio in the quarterfinal on Friday, February 3, 2023.

Linda Noskova is yet to drop a set at the Lyon Open. But opponent Camila Osorio has already accounted for two mammoth wins this week. Could the Colombian add the young Czech to her list of victims?
Linda Noskova is showing maturity beyond her years. The young Czech’s introduction to life on the main tour has been seamless so far. Even the burden of playing qualifying has done little to stop her momentum. Noskova is yet to drop a set in four matches at the Lyon Open, a run that includes a straight-sets humbling of multiple Grand Slam winner Garbine Muguruza. She will be looking to take down an in-form Camila Osorio for a spot in the semifinals.

Camila Osorio, for her part, has advanced into the quarterfinal of the Lyon Open by beating Jule Niemeier in straight sets. But the 7-6 7-5 scoreline probably flatters the Colombian who was on the ropes for the majority of that first set. Had it not been for Niemeier’s wastefulness, things could have looked entirely different. But nonetheless, take nothing away from Osorio who kept plugging away and always forced the German to go for an extra shot in rallies.
Linda Noskova and Camila Osorio have not played each other on the WTA Tour. Friday’s match at the Lyon Open will be their first official meeting. Noskova has enjoyed a meteoric rise and looks poised to join the WTA’s top 50 in the next few weeks. If she can keep up this scintillating run going she will undoubtedly be a force to be reckoned with. Osorio is such an underrated prospect. She’s only 21, but her game oozes class, especially in an era of too many one-dimensional up-and-coming players. I’ve been impressed by her overall court craft, mixing drop shots and slices to good effect. But Noskova is equally versatile and plays at a higher tempo and will likely rob the Colombian time and space to execute her game plan.
