Australian Open 2023: Stefanos Tsitsipas vs. Jannik Sinner Tennis Pick and Prediction

TennisSection previews the 2023 Australian Open as Stefanos Tsitsipas takes on Jannik Sinner in the fourth round on Sunday, January 22, 2023.

Will Stefanos Tsitsipas get the win? Will Jannik Sinner pull off the upset? This will be a fascinating one, where we have a highly anticipated match that could get very interesting. Who will triumph and move through to the quarterfinals at the 2023 Australian Open?

Stefanos Tsitsipas is coming into this contest the pretty clear favorite mostly based off of their head-to-head, particularly last year’s quarterfinal which was a demolition from the Greek. Jannik Sinner still will not go down without a fight, and a win for the Italian is absolutely on the table, especially considering what’s been going on in this tournament. Let’s see if Tsitsipas can hold his nerve and get past a very difficult fourth-round match here at the 2023 Australian Open.

Jannik Sinner has been playing some amazing tennis, despite having to come back from 2 sets down in his last match, it seems like he was hardly even concerned as he completely overpowered Fucsovics, allowing him just 3 games in the final 3 sets. Fucscovics was playing some great tennis before then, but Sinner looked locked in. In this match against Stefanos Tsitsipas though, he can not afford any lapses in concentration or he may be leaving Melbourne soon. Let’s see if Sinner can pull off a win for the ages and grab a quarterfinal spot at the 2023 Australian Open.

Stefanos Tsitsipas and Jannik Sinner have met 5 times before, with Stefanos Tsitsipas leading the head to head 4-1. It wasn’t just the loss last year here, but it’s been a tough pattern for Sinner as Tsitsipas has taken him down time and time again. The lone win Sinner has over him came about 2 and a half years ago on the clay, so Sinner is going to have to go about this match a lot differently in terms of tactics. I’m sure we’ll be in for some surprises in this contest but in the end, it’s hard to see an ending that does not have Tsitsipas taking the win and moving on here at the 2023 Australian Open.
