Borna Coric obviously had a very good season, he did extremely well by winning Cincinnati and taking out Nadal, Tsitsipas, and Auger-Aliassime en route to victory. As he comes into the Australian Open, now among the seeds again, he’ll be looking at his draw and feel pretty happy with it. Although I don’t think the conditions here are perfect for him, I still expect him to put on a solid display here at the 2023 Australian Open.

Jiri Lehecka had his breakout wins in Rotterdam, almost a year ago. Despite not really showing too much lately, he’s still young and improving and we don’t know what to expect from him. To be completely honest, out of all the seeds matches this is one of the ones where an upset wouldn’t totally surprise me, although I still absolutely expect a win for Borna Coric to move through to the 2nd round of the 2023 Australian Open.

Borna Coric and Jiri Lehecka have never met before, with this being their first career meeting. In order for Lehecka to win, he’s going to need to hope for some bad play from Coric. Lehecka can play some good tennis at his best but not quite good enough yet to defeat someone like Borna in a best of 5 sets. Let’s see if the Croat can maintain his form and get the win at the 2023 Australian Open.
