TennisSection previews the 2023 Auckland Open as Cameron Norrie takes on Jenson Brooksby in the semifinal on Friday, January 13, 2023.

Cameron Norrie is still unbeaten in 2023, surviving another three-set battle to reach the Auckland Open semifinals. Norrie will now battle USA’s Jenson Brooksby for the right to reach the final. Who will prevail?
Cameron Norrie was pushed to three sets once again, but had the tools to down Marcos Giron and reach the Auckland Open semifinals. The Briton used his superior topspin forehand to dominate the match, aided by the court conditions, with the match being played outdoors due to improved weather. Norrie will now be looking to keep his undefeated streak to start the year intact when he plays Jenson Brooksby.

Jenson Brooksby, for his part, is also yet to taste defeat this season. Playing in his first tournament of 2023 this week, Brooksby escaped the shackles of Fabio Fognini, then received a walkover in the second round against Diego Schwartzman. Brooksby came out on top against big-hitting Quentin Halys, beating the Frenchman in two tiebreaks. Will he reach the Auckland Open final at the expense of a man who was raised in New Zealand?
Cameron Norrie leads Jenson Brooksby 1-0 in their head-to-head, beating the American in straight sets at the Indian Wells Masters. They were due to play each other in Seoul before Norrie withdrew from the tournament due to Covid. The British lefty is clearly on a rampage in 2023, and he is definitely looking to put things right at the Auckland Open after losing the final in 2019 to Tennys Sandgren. We fancy the Briton to make it six out of six in 2023.
