Novak Djokovic survived his semifinal encounter by the skin of his teeth. Trailing Stefanos Tsitsipas by a mini-break in the third-set tiebreak, Djokovic won the final four points in the match to clinch the win. He routed Tsitsipas 6-2 in the opening set committing just one unforced error. And he fashioned two break points at 4-4 in the third set. But despite squandering his chances, he found a way to win at the very end.

Holger Rune, for his part, shocked Felix Auger-Aliassime in the first semifinal at the Paris Masters. The pair who contested the Basel final just a week ago set up a tantalizing rematch in Bercy. Auger-Aliassime buoyed by his 16-match win streak was shell-shocked at the intensity and aggression brought by his youngeropponent. It appeared Rune learnt his lesson from the Swiss city as he took his chances on a day the Canadian’s serve was non-existent. The Danish Next Gen star will now look to pull off the mother of all upsets in Bercy by defeating six-time champion Novak Djokovic.

Novak Djokovic leads Holger Rune 1-0 in their head-to-head. Sunday’s final at the Paris Masters will be their second meetingafter the US Open first-round match last season. But the two players have rubbed shoulders in practice sessions many timesand share a close relationship off the court. Djokovic has spokenvery highly of Rune and his game, but has promised him a tough battle. The Serb has solidified the pre-tournament script that he is the man to beat this week. And it looks more likely he will lay his hands on yet another Masters title in his illustrious career on Sunday.
