TennisSection previews the 2022 Montreal Open as Cameron Norrie takes on Botic van de Zandschulp in the Round of 32 on Wednesday, August 10th, 2022.
Will Cameron Norrie get the win? Will Botic van de Zandschulp pull off the upset? This will be a fascinating one, where pace meets absorption as two top players clash. Who will triumph and move on to the Round of 16 at the 2022 Montreal Open?
Cameron Norrie has been playing some great tennis, and although he will be quite displeased with his loss to Medvedev in the final of Los Cabos which was quite one-sided, he’ll still have his hopes high as he looks to progress here in Montreal. His game is really great for these conditions, being able to defend much easier on the slow courts and really using his heavy forehand to still be able to dictate. I’m afraid this will create quite a bit of trouble for Botic van de Zandschulp as the two clash here at the 2022 Montreal Open.
Botic van de Zandschulp got a great win over Miomir Kecmanovic, a player who’s in some great form, and now he looks ahead to Cameron Norrie, who will be the clear favorite in this contest. Although van de Zandschulp at his best is a very dangerous opponent, Norrie’s game will allow him to dictate the Dutchman who will have to play at his very best if he wants a shot at the last 16 at the 2022 Montreal Open.
Cameron Norrie and Botic van de Zandschulp have never met before, with this being their first career meeting. It’s not a great matchup for van de Zandschulp, who will be ripping the ball but to no avail as Norrie is an excellent absorbent of powerful hitters, and I expect him to utilize his full skillset to navigate this match and propel himself into the Round of 16 at the 2022 Montreal Open.
