Wimbledon Day 6 Tennis Predictions – Including Tsitsipas vs Kyrgios

TennisSection previews Wimbledon Day 6 as Nick Kyrgios takes on Stefanos Tsitsipas, Brandon Nakashima meets Daniel Elahi Galan, and Alex de Minaur faces Liam Broady.

Stefanos Tsitsipas vs. Nick Kyrgios Tennis Prediction and Pick:

The biggest match of the Third Round, Nick Kyrgios meets Stefanos Tsitsipas in a blockbuster encounter here at Wimbledon. Tennis fans will be salivating at the prospect of this match, and it is sure to be a very close and entertaining one. As always with Nick Kyrgios it is very difficult to know what to expect, but he usually is fired up for big matches like this and he should be ready. Stefanos Tsitsipas has traditionally struggled on grass but has looked food recently, winning the Mallorca Open and then cruising past the dangerous Jordan Thompson in the Second Round. It is difficult to not give the edge to Nick Kyrgios here, especially since he is more natural on this surface than his opponent is, and he won a few weeks ago when they met in Halle. Backing each man to win a set is a relatively safe play, and if we are to pick a winner here it would be the Australian, whose natural grass-court game and variety give him the edge here.

Brandon Nakashima vs. Daniel Elahi Galan Tennis Prediction and Pick:

Brandon Nakashima has been steadily climbing up the rankings recently, and had a solid preparation for Wimbledon by reaching the Quarters in S’Hertogenbosch and the Round of 16 in Eastbourne. Daniel Elahi Galan had a stroke of luck when his heavily favored opponent Roberto Bautista Agut retired ahead of their Second Round clash due to a positive COVID test, or the Colombian likely would not have been here at this stage. His game is much better suited for the clay courts, and it is unlikely that he will have what it takes to trouble the young American much, especially given his strong play during his upset win over Denis Shapovoalov. Brandon Nakashima only dropped 10 points on his serve in that match, and I am expecting that strong play to continue. Galan won’t be able to hang with him for long and I am expecting a comfortable victory for the American who is a much more natural fit on this surface than his opponent.

Alex de Minaur vs. Liam Broady Tennis Prediction and Pick:

Alex de Minaur has looked solid so far here at Wimbledon, and overcame a tough challenge from local hero Jack Draper to win in four sets in the Second Round. Liam Broady scored a five set upset win over Diego Schwartzman, and will be hoping to do the same against yet another higher ranked and seeded opponent in the Aussie. The Brit has never had much success on this surface, but given that his confidence is high and that he will have the support of the home crowd, he can be dangerous here. Alex de Minaur is a very good grass court player and has much more experience than his opponent, and I think that will be the key here. This match should be relatively straightforward given that Alex de Minaur is the better grass court player, and that Liam Broady is likely exhausted after back to back five setters to reach this stage. I’m backing the Aussie to win here in three competitive sets.
