Rafael Nadal got an extremely convincing win today against Daniil Medvedev. Considering Medvedev is the world no. 1, Nadal showed that in terms of current form, he is the best player in the world. While the other finalist in Cameron Norrie will be challenging, he won’t be like Medvedev, and while the score may be tighter, Nadal will not have to fight nearly as hard. I think his game matches up perfectly with that of Norries, so I definitely expect him to take this one as he aims to win a 4th title here in Acapulco, continuing his insane 2022.
Cameron Norrie got an impressive win over Stefanos Tsitsipas, taking him down quite easily. Even if he displays the same level though, I highly doubt he will defeat Rafael Nadal. He really doesn’t match up well with him at all, especially on this court. Norrie’s shots can skid through the court a little more, but on this slow court, he won’t even have help from that. Considering Nadal has been able to defeat Medvedev twice now already, especially so easily in the semifinals, I have no doubt the Spanish legend will take this one to win the 2022 Acapulco Open.
Rafael Nadal and Cameron Norrie have met 3 times before, with Rafael Nadal leading the head to head 3-0. They played 3 times last year, with Nadal winning 8-0 sets against him. They played at 2 slams, and another time in Barcelona. Norrie is a lefty as well, but he really doesn’t hit with nearly enough power to damage Rafa. With his quirky game, he can defeat guys like Tsitsipas, and many other top-tier players. Nadal however is simply way too versatile and smart for his antics, let’s see if he can continue storming through the draw as he aims to become the 2022 Acapulco Champion.
