Stefanos Tsitsipas has been playing solid this week, he’s had some troubles for quite a while now, but he showed brilliant tennis down under and he’s done so again here. It will be the toughest match of the tournament so far though coming up against Cameron Norrie. I think Tsitsipas will get the win, it really isn’t a good matchup for Norrie, Norrie is great at redirecting pace and winning long rallies and occasionally some great Nadal-like forehands. Tsitsipas though will be playing quite aggressive, he’ll also be serving much bigger, so while he will struggle at times, I expect him to eventually pull out the win and book a place in the final at the 2022 Acapulco Open.
Cameron Norrie played a flawless match by his standards, dropping only one game to set up a semifinal clash with Stefanos Tsitsipas. I think Norrie will have to change his strategy going into this one, playing more aggressively in some moments. Norrie has the consistency, so why not go for more? He won’t win by just putting the ball in and relying on defense, he may push Stef, but not further than just a push. He definitely has a chance though as he aims to shock Tsitsipas and make it to back-to-back finals including last week here at the 2022 Acapulco Open.
Stefanos Tsitsipas and Cameron Norrie have met once before, with Stefanos Tsitsipas leading the head to head 1-0. Their one meeting came on the clay, with Tsitsipas winning quite easily. It came last year right before the French Open, and we all know what kind of form he was in. Still though, Norrie isn’t bad on clay. Tsitsipas has a bigger serve, and Norrie isn’t really a returner, I think Tsitsipas will just try to dictate with his forehand, and Norrie won’t have the firepower to compete with that, but he certainly has a say in this match as the two clash for a spot in the final of the 2022 Acapulco Open.
