Daniil Medvedev got an incredibly impressive win over Roberto Bautista Agut, taking him out in straight sets. RBA was a kryptonite of his throughout his young career, but he took care of those demons quite easily, yet to drop a set in this tournament. While Oscar Otte is not to be underestimated, Medvedev will head into this match with plenty of confidence, he’s been playing some of the best grass court tennis of his life, and I don’t expect that to end here as he aims to move on to the final at the 2022 Halle Open.
Oscar Otte has gotten some pretty big wins so far, but nothing gets bigger than facing the World No. 1. Otte took down Khachanov in 3 sets, and before that took out Basilashvili, before that it was Kecmanovic. Otte is an underrated player on the surface, his massive serve and traditional game allows him to do some big things on the grass, but to do that against Medvedev will be very challenging. Medvedev’s return is just impeccable, on top of his amazing serving and aggression, making him the clear favorite as the two battle for a spot in the final of the 2022 Halle Open.
Daniil Medvedev and Oscar Otte have never met before, with this being their first career meeting. I don’t like the matchup for Otte, he relies on his serve pretty heavily, and Medvedev is the guy who can neutralize that, as we’ve seen time and time again. Medvedev has probably one of the best records on the ATP Tour against the big servers, and I expect him to put on a serving clinic of his own, allowing him to dig deep into the service games of Otte and show him what having to battle a World No. 1 is like as he aims to book himself a spot in the final of the 2022 Halle Open.
