Roberto Bautista Agut made his claim to fame on the surface after making the semifinals of the 2019 Wimbledon Championships. Marton Fucsovics himself is a great player on the surface, but to take him down is favorable for RBA, being the higher ranked player with much more consistent results. He hasn’t been playing too well lately, but I expect that to change in this matchup as he seeks a place in the Round of 16 at the 2022 Halle Open.
Marton Fucsovics made the quarterfinals at Wimbledon in 2021 last season, and will obviously have a chance here against Roberto Bautista Agut. I don’t think it’s an amazing matchup for him, as RBA is able to play really consistently, while also being able to defend really very well on the surface, Fucsovics will have to play a very aggressive style as he aims to reach the Round of 16 at the 2022 Halle Open.
Roberto Bautista Agut and Marton Fucsovics have met twice before, with the head to head being tied at 1-1. They’ve had 2 close meetings on hard courts, and I think this one will be close as well. While Fucsovics will be able to lay his mark down in this match, RBA will be too good in the end as the Spaniard aims to continue his success on the grass into the latter stages of the 2022 Halle Open.
