Pablo Carreno Busta hasn’t had the best season, but he has had his moments and he’ll try to find his form on the grass. His game isn’t great for the grass, but he can definitely flatten the ball out and his opponent in Holger Rune, will struggle. Rune has almost no experience on grass, and his game really isn’t built for it. I expect the Spaniard to be able to move on to the Round of 16 here at the 2022 Halle Open, but it won’t be easy.
Holger Rune played an amazing tournament at the French Open, propelling himself into the top 30 in the world. Heading into the grass, while his confidence may be sky high, his game simply isn’t built for the surface. While I do think he can adapt in future years, he doesn’t have a big serve, and he needs a lot of time to get value off his forehand wing, his backhand is very compact and good for the surface, so he’ll have to try and target that wing, but PCB is just as solid, making Rune’s chances at taking this one rather low at the 2022 Halle Open.
Pablo Carreno Busta and Holger Rune have met once before, with Pablo Carreno Busta leading the head to head 1-0. Their one meetings came in Metz last year, with PCB winning in 3. Rune has quick court potential, but on grass, with the low bounce, I really don’t like Rune’s forehand to be too big of a weapon, on the contrary, it’s a rather evident weakness. Let’s see what the young star with quite the flair can do against the ever-cool veteran as the two clash for a spot in the last 16 at the 2022 Halle Open.
