Grigor Dimitrov played some good tennis in his first match, but did get a little fortunate with Basilashvili retiring early in the 2nd set at the 2022 Monte-Carlo Masters. His next opponent will not be easy by any means coming up against Dusan Lajovic, a solid clay courter in his own right. Dimitrov can navigate the clay, but it’s by no means his best surface. I do think he’ll win, seeing as he typically rides a wave of form tournament to tournament, but he could very well fall here at the Monte-Carlo Masters 2022.
Dusan Lajovic took down good friend Filip Krajinovic to book a meeting with Girgor Dimitrov for a place in the Round of 16 at the Monte-Carlo Masters 2022. It will not be easy, Lajovic is a consistent player and can amp up the aggression when needed. I think Dimitrov will for sure take it to him, allowing him to be the aggressor and eventually taking the match to book himself a place in the Round of 16 at the Monte-Carlo Masters 2022.
Grigor Dimitrov and Dusan Lajovic have met twice before, with the head to head being tied at 1-1. Both meetings came on hard courts several years prior, with one 3 setter and one 2 setter. I think the match can go either way, Dimitrov is certainly not known for being consistent, but Lajovic hasn’t really been around the ATP Tour much this season, so I do expect Dimitrov to overpower him in the end and claim a place in the last 16 at the Monte-Carlo Masters 2022.
