Carlos Alcaraz is most certainly the talk of the tennis world right now, and for good reason. He was the best player in the sunshine double, losing an instant classic to Nadal in Indian Wells and picking up the Miami title. Korda is a big hitter, and can produce some incredible performances on his day. Alcaraz though, is a guy who loves his clay, that is definitely not Sebastian Korda. I expect Alcaraz to continue his magical run as he aims to top Korda and book his spot in the Round of 16 at the Monte-Carlo Masters 2022.
Sebastian Korda has played some solid tennis in the last year or so, but has struggled to find too much consistency. Carlos Alcaraz, on the other hand, is an incredibly consistent player, especially on the clay. I expect him to blow Korda off the court. Korda can put up a fight, as we don’t know exactly how Alcaraz will approach the match, but ultimately there is little doubt in everyone’s minds as to how Alcaraz will start his campaign at the Monte-Carlo Masters 2022.
Carlos Alcaraz and Sebastian Korda have met once before, with Carlos Alcaraz leading the head to head 1-0. Their one meeting came in the final of the Next-gen ATP Finals last season, with Alcaraz winning quite easily. It was a very quick court, Korda’s favorite. Alcaraz has improved a lot since even then, so it’s scary to think what he can do as he aims to take down Korda and kick his clay season off to the best possible start at the Monte-Carlo Masters 2022.
