TennisSection previews the Miami Open 2022 as Carlos Alcaraz takes on Miomir Kecmanovic in the quarterfinals on Thursday, March 31st, 2022.
Will Carlos Alcaraz get the win? Will Miomir Kecmanovic pull off the upset? This will be a fascinating one, where we have the on fire next-gen star taking on a fellow youngster in superb form. Who will triumph and move on to the semifinals at the Miami Open 2022?
Carlos Alcaraz took out the 3rd seed with relative ease today in straight sets. It was anything but easy though in the 1st set, storming back from 2-5 down to take it 7-5 6-3. I think he will have a harder time coming up against Miomir Kecmanovic, though. Kecmanovic hits a massive ball and that will help him, you have to be aggressive against Alcaraz and he’s most certainly done that. The versatility and consistency of Alcaraz however, will likely propel him to the last four at the Miami Open 2022.
Miomir Kecmanovic pulled off the upset on Taylor Fritz in 3 tough sets, both players bludgeoning the ball, but Kecmanovic playing excellent in the important moments. I think he has a shot against Alcaraz for sure. The Spaniard is still young and we’ve seen him go astray at times, but he’s been very consistent this season so far while Kecmanovic can still struggle at times. I think it will be a contested match, but Alcaraz should get it done in the end at the Miami Open 2022.
Carlos Alcaraz and Miomir Kecmanovic have never met before, with this being their first career meeting. Both players play amazingly from the ground, but Alcaraz does have the extra versatility at the net and off the return. I give Kecmanovic the edge on serve, but neither player is a big server and with the slower conditions here in Miami, I expect it to mostly depend on who returns better, that will likely be Alcaraz. Kecmanovic can dig in and hit huge to force some errors and play the way he has all week, but he will likely succumb in the end to Carlos Alcaraz as he aims to book a spot in the semifinals at the Miami Open 2022.
