Will Stefanos Tsitsipas get the win? Will Jenson Brooksby pull off the upset? This will be an interesting one, where we have the world no. 5 taking on a very challenging 3rd round opponent. Who will triumph to move through to the Round of 16 at Indian Wells 2022?
Stefanos Tsitsipas battled through an inspired Jack Sock backed by his home crowd, but eventually getting the win, coming back from 3-5 down in both tiebreaks he played and dropping the 2nd set 6-3. He does not have an easier one ahead of him in Jenson Brooksby, yet another American. I do not love Tsitsipas’ chances in this one, the court is painfully slow and that doesn’t help Tsitsipas at all. Brooksby will simply stay back and rally, and Tsitsipas will of course be aggressive, but with how slow the court is, I don’t think he’ll be able to create many opportunities from the defense of Brooksby as he aims to meet expectations and take down a tough opponent and move on at Indian Wells 2022.
Jenson Brooksby got a very easy win over top player Karen Khachanov, but it’s only going uphill for him as he aims to take down World No. 5 Stefanos Tsitsipas. Now, I do think Brooksby is in a good position to pull off the upset, but he has to make sure he doesn’t let Tsitsipas dictate with his serve and forehand, if he can just get the returns back into play and prolong the rallies as he always does, I definitely do believe in his ability to take this one and grab his career-best win at Indian Wells 2022.
Stefanos Tsitsipas and Jenson Brooksby have never met before, with this being their first career meeting. It’s a fascinating matchup, and ordinarily I would say Tsitsipas would get him since pure aggression will always defeat pure defense if both are played to the best of their abilities. In this case however, Tsitsipas is not at his best which is evident by his first match and his season so far, where he could not cross the line to reach a final thus far. I think Brooksby will just defend and defend, ultimately leading to too many errors off the racquet of Tsitsipas, giving Brooksby a ticket to the Round of 16 at Indian Wells 2022.
