Will Roberto Bautista Agut get the win? Will Carlos Alcaraz pull off the upset? This will be an interesting one, where we have the young and talented Spaniard taking on a fellow Spaniard who is quite solid himself. Who will triumph to move through to the Round of 16 at Indian Wells 2022?
Carlos Alcaraz got a great first win against McDonald, just continuing his excellent run this season. His next match will be anything but easier however as he aims to take down fellow top 20 player Roberto Bautista Agut. This one isn’t too easy to predict, but I do expect Alcaraz to pull through. The primary reason being that this court is very slow, RBA actually prefers quicker courts which is rather surprising considering his playstyle, but Alcaraz will be able to handle his consistent playstyle and start playing aggressive, not really allowing RBA to dictate much as he aims to keep going at Indian Wells 2022.
Roberto Bautista Agut got a hard-fought win today, barely getting it done against an opponent who he really should have put away more easily, and that does not help his case coming up against Carlos Alcaraz. RBA will need to focus on playing more aggressively, otherwise he will be outplayed from the back of the court and he won’t be able to do much to stop the rampaging youngster at Indian Wells 2022.
Carlos Alcaraz and Roberto Bautista Agut have never met before, with this being their first career meeting. It’s a curious matchup for sure, and we’ll have to see how it goes, but I don’t think RBA can win too many rallies against a guy who is aggressive, RBA is a very hard opponent for guys like Djokovic or Medvedev, as he matches their pace and refuses to miss, but Alcaraz isn’t like that, and considering it’s a painfully slow court, RBA’s shots won’t be too hard to attack as Alcaraz aims to pull off the upset in terms of ranking and move on at Indian Wells 2022.
