Australian Open 2022: Felix Auger-Aliassime vs. Dan Evans Tennis Pick and Prediction

Australian Open 2022: Felix Auger-Aliassime vs. Dan Evans Tennis Pick and Prediction

TennisSection previews the 2022 Australian Open as Felix Auger-Aliassime takes on Dan Evans in the third round on Saturday, January 22nd, 2022.

Will Dan Evans show us his flamboyant playing style as he aims to get a top 10 win under his belt? Will Felix Auger-Aliassime show us why he is so good at such a young age and will definitely be one of the stars of 2022? Both players have their unique traits and can definitely take control of this match at times, but only one will make their way to the fourth round of the 2022 Australian Open. Who will it be?

Dan Evans did not have to do anything at all in his second round match against Arthur Rinderknech, with the Frenchman withdrawing from the encounter before it even started. Dan Evans is a great player and he is very underrated I believe. Evans is both great from the back of the court and at the net, which allows him to shock his opponents at times when he comes it quite often. However, Evans is also known for sometimes losing his rhythm and it takes him some time to get back into the match. Will he be able to get something going against the world no.9 in Felix Auger-Aliassime at the 2022 Australian Open?

Felix Auger-Aliassime came through a very tight 4 set match against Alejandro Davidovich Fokina, beating the Spaniard in 4 tiebreak sets. Felix is a great player who knows that if he is at his best, he can go so far in these big tournaments, as he did at the US Open when he reached the Semi-Finals. Felix will want to give himself the best chance to show us why he is one of the next best things in the world of tennis, but he knows that he cannot take anything lightly here at the 2022 Australian Open, especially against the likes of Dan Evans.

Felix Auger-Aliassime and Dan Evans have met 1 time before, with Dan Evans leading the head to head 1-0. They met last year in the Final of Melbourne where Dan won quite easily. Dan Evans obviously will want to use the same tactics that won him that match. However, since then, Felix has really improved. Felix has been very consistent in big tournaments over the last year, and he knows that he needs to start winning these tight matches, which he has shown this week. I expect for a strong game with powerful serves and forehands from the Canadian which should see him through to the fourth round of the 2022 Australian Open.
