Australian Open 2022: Arthur Rinderknech vs. Alexei Popyrin Tennis Pick and Prediction

TennisSection previews the 2022 Australian Open as Arthur Rinderknech takes on Alexei Popyrin in the Round of 128 on Tuesday, January 18th, 2021.

Will Arthur Rinderknech get the win? Will Alexei Popyrin pull off the upset? This will be an interesting one, where we have a tight matchup with two talented players both on the rise. Who will move on to the Round of 64 at the 2022 Australian Open?

Alexei Popyrin did not have a great start to the Australian Swing to the fans dismay, having bowed out in his first warm-up match. He doesn’t have a great shot coming up against Arthur Rinderknech, who is a much more consistent player and has already shown a good level of consistency leading into the tournament. Popyrin will have to hit huge to get past him, and I don’t see him being able to do that while staying consistent, let’s see if he can stay competitive as he aims to clash for a place in the next round here at the 2022 Australian Open.

Arthur Rinderknech has been playing pretty consistently, and I definitely expect him to get past Alexei Popyrin, who is just too inconsistent for a player like Rinderknech. Popyrin has a massive serve, and if he can use it well then I definitely expect him to be able to be somewhat competitive, but at the end of the day, he has not been able to show a consistent level on the court, so I do expect Rinderknech to conquer him in four sets as he aims to kick off his campaign to a good start here at the 2022 Australian Open.

Alexei Popyrin and Arthur Rinderknech have never met before, with this being their first career meeting. It’s a good matchup for Rinderknech, seeing as he is able to hit very consistently from almost all aspects of his game, which means he can counter Popyrin in a lot of the rallies, as Popyrin tries to hit huge and go for big shots as he plays. Let’s see if Rinderknech can meet expectations and get through a somewhat challenging first test as he aims to move on to the next round at the 2022 Australian Open.
