Jannik Sinner is the top seed this week here at the 2021 Antwerp Open and is ranked at a career-high number thirteen on the ATP Tour. The young Italian star has already won three titles this year and will have his eyes firmly set on winning yet another one this week. Sinner has breezed through this tournament so far, defeating Lorenzo Musetti and Arthur Rinderknech in straight sets. Against Rinderknech he was hardly tested, winning 6-2, 6-4 in a dominant display of power tennis. He has so much firepower on both wings and it is very difficult to handle his pace from the baseline. In this type of form he should be considered the favorite here against Lloyd Harris and he will be hoping to continue serving well as he has this week, as holding serve will be extrmeely important here against a big server like the South African.
Lloyd Harris is the seventh seed here at the 2021 Antwerp Open and is ranked 32 on in the ATP world rankings. The South African has been enjoying a solid 2021 season, reaching his first ever ATP Final in Dubai and then a Quarter-Finals appearance at the US Open recently. Like his top seeded opponent Jannik Sinner, Harris has reached the Final here in Antwerp without dropping a set. He overcame a tough challenge from the talented Marton Fucsovics in the Quarter-Finals, playing a fantastic match, only being broken once. If he serves well he will have a chance of causing the upset, but he will have his work cut out for him against him here. Despite being the underdog here at the Antwerp Open, Harris will be full of confidence after a good year and will be up for the challenge.
This will be the first meeting between the two players on the ATP Tour and I am expecting fireworks. Both Jannik Sinner and Lloyd Harris have been dominant this week, and their confidence will be very high. This match will be full of flashy tenns, with each person trying to gain an upper hand. Sinnner is the favorite here and he will be very confident in his abilities here after his exploits in 2021. Harris is no slouch however, and if he serves well he can making things difficult for his Italian opponent. I am expecting a very close match, but Jannik Sinner should prevail in the end. He simply has too much firepower from the baseline, so his opponent will struggle to maintain enough consistency to win this match. Sinner will win here, advancing to the Final of the 2021 Antwerp Open.
